Rule 58
Duties, Duties and Powers of the Chief of the Metropolitan or Riot Control Police Unit
: The duties, duties and powers of the Chief of the Riot Control Police Unit shall be as under the direct supervision, control and direction of the Police Head Office, the Office of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner and the Regional Police Office.
(a) Effective mobilization, monitoring, controlling and giving necessary instructions of police manpower (b) Strictly follow the conduct and discipline of the police personnel (c) To improve the work efficiency and performance capacity of the police personnel, to make them conscientious and to keep their morale high by regularly inspecting and giving necessary instructions,
(d) Conducting punishments, awards, transfers, promotions and other professional development activities by inspecting and supervising police personnel and offices,
(e) Arrange hearing of complaints of subordinate police personnel,
(f) To provide timely training to the riot control police as an additional force so that they can be used effectively in unusual and adverse security situations, and keep them in a state of preparedness with modern equipment.
(G) mobilizing or causing the police to be mobilized in unusual and adverse security situations including riots, communal riots,
(h) To manage the necessary to reduce the damage caused by the disaster as well as to manage the rescue with readiness during the disaster,
(i) To send reports to the Inspector General of Police as soon as possible or monthly and annually as per the requirement regarding the rank and subordinates and manpower, planning and work, training,
(j) To follow the instructions given by the Taluk Office and to perform other functions as specified by the prevailing law.
